Marks Garage and the surrounding area known as the Honolulu Arts District, is comprised of a barrage of art galleries, performance art venues and some of Honolulu’s trendiest restaurants, bars and nightclubs.

The Arts District is located in Chinatown and spans over 12 blocks bounded by Bethel and Smith Streets and Nimitz Highway and Beretania Street.

The renaissance of the area started a few years ago with the restoration of the Hawaii Theatre Center and the opening of Indigo Restaurant, art galleries and specialty shops, creating a much needed rejuvenation of the area.

Adding to the revitalization of Chinatown has been the construction of new residential buildings and commercial space.

The Honolulu community, as well as the visitor industry have rediscovered Chinatown, a cherished part of our island heritage and can now enjoy festivals, block parties and cultural celebrations frequently held in the district.

Whether strolling in and out of the myriad of art galleries and specialty shops, happy hour with friends or dinner and entertainment, the Honolulu Arts District is the place to be.
